Bright Morning Star

I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” (Revelation 22:16)

BRIGHT MORNING STAR

Eventually, we'll discuss "Root And Offspring of  David," but today's name of God is "Bright Morning Star." There are times through the late fall and early winter that I am out walking while it's still dark out, but I don't think I've seen many bright morning stars this year. It seems as if Venus, Jupiter, and Mars (the three planets that are sometimes called bright morning or bright evening stars) have been evening stars or late night stars.
The three definitional facts about bright morning stars that come to mind are that they actually rise while it is still dark and they always rise shortly before the dawn. Remember the saying, "It's always darkest before the dawn"? That's when bright morning stars are visible. Because they are bright, they are the last visible star as the dawn begins to break. Thirdly, they aren't really stars. The real Morning Star follows them at dawn.
Jesus came to the world in its dark night. He rose again and has remained visible (figuratively) for the past two thousand years. He will rise as the real Morning Star when He returns like the dawn and causes darkness to be no more.
