She
speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over
the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. (Proverbs
31:26-27)
This is an area I want to work on. I
seem to go through phases when I feel the need to apply the knowledge I've
gained about things like being organized and looking after the affairs of my
household. I've read numerous books about being organized , and I sometimes
work very hard at getting organized. The problem is that a year later, it's all
a mess again because getting organized is not the same as being organized. That
is, I suppose, where the wisdom and instruction come in.
As with all the other
characteristics of the noble wife, this isn't something to be sought only in
wives. One of the blessings I have had is to live in a household with MacGyver
type. For years, if there was a mechanical problem, it got a DIY solution. Now,
as I try to organize my affairs, I'm including phone numbers of professionals
for those purposes.
One of the keys to speaking with
wisdom and faithful instruction and watching over the affairs of a household is
learning. I don't know how much time is "enough time" for you to
spend in Scripture, but are you doing it? I can't say I am. Are you reading
other material that will help you keep your affairs in order? I need to
discipline myself in these areas. I also need to discipline myself to spend at
least a little time every day keeping the organization I've set up.
