Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (I Corinthians 1:26-31)
I read an editorial yesterday that started with an explanation of the history of the “the earth is flat” nonsense. He concluded that only the uneducated believed that the earth is flat, then he made what I assume he thought a logical leap to evolution and Intelligent Design. This, of course, ignores the fact that people like Guillermo Gonzales, Michael Behe, and Stephen C. Meyer have PhDs in their respective fields. The tautology taught by the current intelligentsia insists that in order to be considered educated, one must agree to submit to the teaching of the intelligentsia. The assumption that those who don’t believe as you do are stupid is bigotry.
In response to my request for proof of evolution, I usually get told, “Look around!” I do look around, and I see evidence of creation. It’s like one of those optical illusions. Is the woman in the picture young or old? Is it a pair of faces or a candlestick? Do the craters and mares of the moon look like a man, a woman carrying a bucket, or a rabbit? Your expectations control the outcome, and you can’t see both at the same time. Most of the time, I can make the shift between one and the other. Evolution and creation are like that, except for the fact that one is true and the other is not. The person who can only see one is likely to declare the one who sees the other to be a fool, but those who can see both are better able to determine what it is they really see, and which is truly true.
