To him who is able to keep you from falling and to
present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to
the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus
Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
(Jude 1:24-25)
This
is one of my favorite benedictions and it fits nicely with yesterday’s passage.
Imagine that – Scripture dovetailing with Scripture! God is able to keep you
from falling. God is able to present you before His glorious presence without
fault. God is able to present you before His glorious presence with great joy.
God is able. When I start whining that I’m such a failure (and I am), God says,
“I am able!”
When the Nebuchadnezzar in your life looks down from his throne and says, “…But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”
God says, “No sweat, I’ve done it before. I am able.”
And the “great joy”? Whose is that, God’s or yours? Yes. Imagine that.
