We accept man’s
testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God,
which he has given about his Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has
this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out
to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his
Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is
in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God
does not have life. (I John 5:9-12)
Juries
apparently put a great deal of trust in the testimony of eye witnesses,
especially if there is agreement among them. Scripture demands that multiple
witnesses to support a conviction. One
reason for that is that witnesses may have personal reasons for testifying
against someone. A second reason is that even if a witness is unbiased and

Like loving, trusting is easier when someone is physically there. It’s easier to trust an eyewitness than it is physically there than one who is not physical. However, there are witnesses that are considered more trustworthy than eyewitnesses. Fingerprints, videotape, DNA… also known as physical evidence. In the same way, God provides a witness, and that witness is recorded for us in the Bible. This is why as we make archeological discoveries, as we find evidence, it proves the validity of what the Bible tell us is true.
As we accept the truth of the things we have verified, we should be confident of the truth of the rest of what God has told us. And since He is God, His knowledge and wisdom are perfect. If a person rejects what God says about His Son, one is calling God a liar. If that happens, that person has rejected God Himself, and therefore rejected the life that God alone can provide.
