Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100)
Maybe you’re not a shouter. Maybe
you are. Maybe you’re a quiet singer. Maybe you’re one who knows that the Lord
is God. Maybe you can give thanks. Maybe you can praise. Maybe you’re going
through a hard time and all of these are difficult. Some people seem to think
that there is only one acceptable way to approach God. You must raise your hands, or you must
speak in tongues, or you must say the right words, dress the right way, have
a life devoid of sin…and they are right. There are only two right ways to approach
God. The first is through Jesus Christ. The second is by approaching Him.
Today is likely to be a busy
day for most of us, but take a moment, if only before you fall asleep, to approach
Him from the point of “Lord, Your love
endures forever” or from “Lord, Your
faithfulness continues through my generation.” And if music might help, here are a few songs for the day:
