The
fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are
vile; there is no one who does good. (Psalm 14:1)
The
fear of the LORD is the beginning
of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Prov 1:7)
It's
difficult to talk to someone who has a different way of looking at the
universe. If you believe X to be true, then X1, X2, and X3 follow. When you
believe that Y is true, then Y1, Y2 and Y3 follow. If you try to start with X
and add Y1, Y2 and Y3, they probably won't make any sense. That doesn't mean
Y1, Y2 or Y3 is wrong, just that they don't work with X. There are more than
two ways to look at the universe, but they tend to fall into two broad categories:
with God and without God.
I
think that when I've dealt with people, I have tended to try to associate
wisdom with those in the "without God" category. At the risk of
upsetting others who also do this, as yesterday's passage noted, "without God" or
"no God" is an identifier of a fool. I definitely need to learn
better how to deal with that category of person is a wiser manner.
