I remain confident of this:
I
will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27:13-14)
This
morning is a time of frustration. Schedules have changed. Our departure is now
set for Sunday. I have a couple of days to relax and get more done here. The
problem is, now I have to wait two more days before getting to the work that
needs to be done. No big deal, unless you hate living in limbo. in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27:13-14)
What’s most frustrating is my attitude. I have things set so that we should not encounter much snow or ice, and we won’t even have to travel after dark (at least, not much.) That means we’re taking longer to get home, but t also gives me a chance to see some of the scenery. I may be able to see some of that goodness of God in the land of the living, if I don’t spend the whole time fretting because I had to change my plans.
That’s one of the problems with our seeing the goodness of God in the land of the living. So often, we miss it because it’s not the goodness we want, under the conditions we set, on our timetable. The key to seeing the good of the Lord in the land of the living involves a four-letter word: W.A.I.T. Waiting takes strength and will-power.
I don’t know what I’m going to get to see on my trip home. The only place I found that I know I’d like to see is a couple hours out of the way. That won’t work. I guess I’ll have to wait and see and have my camera ready. And then I need to learn to live like that the rest of the time.
