“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
At sunset tonight, Yom HaShoah begins, a Jewish
remembrance of the Holocaust, when an estimated six million Jews slaughtered by the Nazis. Of
course, this is not the only example of brutality against the Jews. God's
chosen people, whether Jew or Christian have often been the targets of hatred.
It's just as true today as it was in 1940. Jesus warned His disciples that this would be the case.
Too often when we face tribulation (whether mild or wild), our response is to draw the sword. That's not what Jesus teaches here. We are not to overcome the world, because He has already done so. Jesus tells us that we are to take courage, and to find peace in Him.
Today and tomorrow take 6 minutes to pray for the peace and courage of Israel, and for God's other children, in the persecuted Church.
